State Bar of Arizona suspends law license of Apache County Attorney

APACHE COUNTY-Michael Whiting gets slapped with an “interim suspension” according to the State Bar of Arizona.

Whiting, who has been indicted by the Arizona Attorney General of theft, misuse of public funds and harassing political opponent has had his law license suspended.

The effective date is Nov. 1 according to the State Bar of Arizona.

Interim Suspension: A lawyer may be suspended pending the outcome of disciplinary proceedings if the lawyer has been convicted of a felony or other serious misdemeanor; is misappropriating funds; engaging in conduct that would result in substantial harm, loss or damage to the public, the legal profession or the administration of justice, according to the the State Bar of Arizona’s website. 

Whiting may not practice law in Arizona while suspended.

Where does that leave the people of Apache County since Whiting is running for his current position unopposed in the Nov election?

Residents can note that that the Arizona Attorney General is currently providing oversight for the Apache County Attorney’s Office.
