SHOW LOW — A Show Low woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal accident that claimed the life of a local firefighter in what was recognized as a line-of-duty death.
Deputies arrested Kilaya Williamson, 21, of Show Low, on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, following a months-long investigation into a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Oct. 3, 2025. Williamson is facing a charge of second-degree murder and was booked into the Navajo County Jail in Holbrook.
The accident occurred on Lone Pine Dam Road near milepost 7.5 in Show Low, near the transfer station. The crash resulted in the death of Glen Collins, a firefighter with the Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District. He was driving to work when the accident happened.
Collins’ death has been classified as a line-of-duty death, and he was laid to rest in October with a full honors funeral.
According to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies obtained a search warrant for a blood sample during the investigation after suspecting impairment of Williamson. They said the testing conducted with assistance from the Arizona Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory confirmed the presence of impairing substances in Williamson’s system.
In a statement provided to Mountain Daily Star, the Williamson family said they are profoundly saddened by Collins’ death and acknowledged that now two families are grappling with significant loss. The family also requested the public to respect their privacy and constitutional rights.
The statement further expressed concern for their daughter’s well-being, noting that the emotional strain of the situation could pose risks to her health. The family said Williamson is newly pregnant and emphasized their concern for both her and the unborn child.
The case has been submitted to the Navajo County Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
All persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
