Show Low Police Launch Interactive Messaging Tool.

The Show Low Police Department )SLPD) has been using SPIDR Tech, a Versaterm Public Safety Company to send customized text messages, emails, and communication automatically to call 911callers. The system works with the 911/Regional Communication Center to send updates back to callers about the response to their calls.

SLPD uses SPIDR Tech messages for crimes like theft and robbery, some types of assault, and fraud, crimes. SLPD explained that they will not use it for more personal and sensitive crimes, when more personal communication is important.

Text messages sent by SLDS’s SPIDR Tech will come from the phone number: 928-569-8599. This is a texting ONLY number. SLPD asks users to remember to call 911 for emergencies and 928-537-4365 for SLPD’s non-emergency line.

SLPD described their goals with the new system will include greater transparency for the department in responding to 911calls, gathering feedback on the quality of services provided to the community. Also to ensure updates are provided to victims throughout the investigation and related process.
