Apache County Jail received book donations

APACHE COUNTY- The Apache County Jail recently received a donation of over 300 books for the inmate library from “Read Between the Bars.”

“Read Between the Bars” is a Tucson based organization whose mission is to send books free of charge to people in Arizona’s county jails, state and federal prisons.

Their goal is to promote healing, provide educational opportunities, and maintain community connection.

People in prison can write “Read Between the Bars” a letter (via Post Office) and ask for books. The letter should include their name, address, and inmate ID number. “Read between the Bars” asks that people request genres of books rather than specific titles or authors, as we work entirely on donations.

Their vision is All people in Arizona, including those incarcerated, have access to literature that supports and heals them to create a more connected and safer community for everyone.
