Speaker Johnson (R-La) begins posting Jan. 6 footage online | Link inside.

“This decision will provide millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media an ability to see for themselves what happened that day, rather than having to rely upon the interpretation of a small group of government officials,” House Speaker Johnson said, when announcing the website, where the tapes will be posted throughout the weekend.

The tapes contain over 44,000 hours of security footage from the U.S. Capitol of the protest that took place on January 6, 2021.

Link to the tapes: cha.house.gov

Have patience with the link, Mountain Daily Star was able to watch a couple of the tapes and some did not load. According to Arizona House Republicans, the tapes will take time to upload.

Johnson explained faces of private citizens will be blurred on any unreleased tapes and about 5 percent of the footage from the day will be redacted for building security concerns. Its also not clear if the tape of Ashli Babbitt’s participation in the Jan. 6 protest will be released.

“The goal of our investigation has been to provide the American people with transparency on what happened at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and this includes all official video from that day,” stated Rep. Barry Loudermilk (GA-11), Chairman of the Committee on House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight.

Specifically, the censored footage will be altered with the intention of preventing the “doxxing and harassment of private citizens, “Johnson said.

“We will continue loading video footage as we conduct our investigation and continue to review footage. As I’ve said all along—the American people deserve transparency, accountability, and real answers supported by facts instead a predetermined political narrative,” said Loudermilk.

When airing the footage on Fox in March, Tucker Carlson described the scene as “mostly peaceful chaos.” He also described officers as acting as “tour guides” to rioters who made their way into the Capitol.

In an internal memo, Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger said that Carlson’s report was “filled with offensive and misleading conclusions.”

This is the first time the general public will be allowed to view and request clips from all USCP video footage from the USCP CCTV cameras at the Capitol from January 6, 2021.
