Winter Storm Warning issued for the White Mountains

Heavy snow expected above 8000 feet. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 16 inches, with locally up to 24 inches at the highest elevations. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

Areas above 8000 feet near Alpine, Pinetop-Lakeside, Show Low and Whiteriver, from 8 PM this evening to 8 PM MST Saturday. Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Snow forecast from 8 PM Today to 8 PM Saturday

Tonight

Rain and snow showers, mainly before midnight. Low around 26. South wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday

Rain and snow showers before noon, then snow showers likely between noon and 3pm, then rain and snow showers likely after 3pm. High near 39. Southwest wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

A chance of rain and snow showers before 1am, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Southwest wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
