Police pursuit across AZ state line ends with a shooting on Transcon Ln

DPS Media Relations Specialist Bart Graves, explained the pursuit started in New Mexico on the I-40. He did not have information on why the incident occurred. DPS troopers and officers from several other agencies joined the pursuit into Arizona.

The pursuit ended with a shooting off the westbound ramp to the Transcon Ln exit at milepost 255 on I-40. Graves was not able to confirm which agencies were involved in the shooting. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.

The westbound ramp to the Transcon Ln exit was closed from about 2:25p.m. on Tuesday until Wednesday am. The DPS Major Incident Division is investigating the shooting. Traffic on I-40 was not restricted according to Navajo County Sheriffs Office Facebook posts.
