Fentanyl seized off Interstate 40

Holbrook, AZ-Fentanyl pills were discovered in a vehicle during a traffic stop and the suspect was arrested.  

On March 6, 2024, a Navajo County Criminal Interdiction Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 40 at milepost 258 in the Winslow area. During the traffic stop, illegal drugs were located and Jaime Sevilla-Veliz (24) of California, was arrested and booked into the Navajo County Jail for felony charges.  

During the traffic stop, deputies determined Sevilla-Veliz had a suspended/revoked driver’s  license and he was then placed under arrest. During a search incident to arrest, approximately one dozen blue suspected M-30 Fentanyl pills were located on Sevilla-Veliz’s person, and a  subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a large amount of the same. The total weight of the pills was over 2 pounds (roughly 9,360 pills). The estimated street value for the narcotic drugs is  more than $65,500.

Sevilla-Veliz was arrested and booked into the Navajo County Jail for transportation of narcotic drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, and possession of narcotic drugs. He is currently  being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
