The Pilot Fire

The Pilot Fire, which is 20 miles east of Wikieup, has consumed over 33,834 acres as of July 10 and has 5% containment.

The fire is being fought by more than 100 firefighters; Arizona forestry officials said it is in “treacherous” terrain and is burning on steep ground.

Due to the difficulty of combating this fire, officials said that it can take up to five hours to drive to the fire line in some places. “Crews spiked out on the fire line will receive meals and additional necessary equipment via helicopters.”

Yavapai and Mohave County residents may be able to see smoke until containment numbers increase.

The Pilot Fire is burning on the O Ro Ranch.
