SHOW LOW — The Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District is mourning the loss of Firefighter EMT Glenn Collins, who was killed early Friday morning in a head-on collision on Lone Pine Dam Road. District officials have confirmed they are considering his passing a Line of Duty Death (LODD).

According to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 6:44 a.m. on Lone Pine Dam Road near milepost 7.5. Deputies determined that Collins, 46, was riding his motorcycle when he was involved in a head-on collision with a truck driven by a 21-year-old woman from Show Low.

Collins sustained fatal injuries at the scene, according to officials.

The Mountain Daily Star has identified the woman involved in the accident; however, we are waiting for the family’s permission before releasing her name.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety assisted deputies with the investigation, which remains ongoing.

Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District publicly identified Collins Friday afternoon, honoring his seven years of service with the department and recognizing his dedication to the fire service.

“Firefighter EMT Glenn Collins has proudly served with Timber Mesa for the past seven years. He was respected by his peers for his dedication to the fire service, his professionalism, and his commitment to helping others. His absence will be deeply felt,” said Trinity Savage, public information officer.

Although Collins was commuting to work at the time of the crash, Timber Mesa has classified his passing as a Line of Duty Death, a designation that ensures his service and sacrifice are formally recognized.

District officials described his death as another “unimaginable tragedy” for both the fire service and the Show Low community, adding that they are grateful for the outpouring of support already shown by residents.

A Timber Mesa employee emphasized Collins’ commitment to helping others and the respect he earned among colleagues throughout his seven years of service.

Collins’ death marks a profound loss for Timber Mesa, as they laid two firefighters to rest last week and are now grieving the loss of three of their firefighters.

Funeral arrangements and memorial services have not been announced at this time.

This is the second accident that has caused three of our local firefighters to die; all three are from the same district. These losses are devastating to our community.
