SHOW LOW — A Show Low man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a vehicle in connection with a fatal incident that occurred in July 2024.

According to a news release from the Navajo County Attorney’s Office, Brady Ieler, now 29, was sentenced in Navajo County Superior Court on January 8. Ieler pleaded guilty in November to deliberately striking two people with his vehicle, killing one and seriously injuring another.

According to the Navajo County Attorney’s Office, on July 17, 2024, Brady Ieler, now 29, hit and killed Alyssa Marie Jager, 29, of Lakeside, and grievously injured Isaiah Hargraves, 27, of Eloy, Arizona. The Show Low Police Department investigated the crime and determined that a physical altercation occurred among Hargraves, Ieler, and a third man, Christopher Snyder, 34, of Show Low. After the fight, Ieler and Snyder climbed into Ieler’s vehicle, and Ieler aimed his vehicle at, then struck, Jager and Hargraves. Jager was pronounced dead at Summit Regional Medical Center that evening. Hargraves sustained a fractured pelvis and multiple abrasions and deep lacerations to his body, face, and head.

Under Arizona law, first-degree murder is a Class 1 felony and aggravated assault is a Class 2 felony. Ieler will serve the full 24-year sentence in the custody of the Arizona Department of Corrections without the possibility of early release.

In a statement, Navajo County Attorney Brad Carlyon said the plea agreement ensured accountability while avoiding a lengthy trial.“We are pleased to reach a plea agreement in this case and spare the victims and their families a prolonged trial process, while still ensuring justice is served,” Carlyon said. “I am proud of the work of the deputy county attorney assigned to this case, who relentlessly pursued justice for the victims of this calculated and heinous crime.”
