HEBER-OVERGAARD — The White Mountains community came together as HOSS (Heber-Overgaard Support Service) hosted its Third Annual Banquet, filling the Big Red Ranch Barn with residents, local businesses, volunteers, and supporters united by a common goal—helping neighbors in need.
The May 23 annual fundraiser featured a dinner, raffles, auctions, and an evening of fellowship, with proceeds benefiting HOSS’s mission to provide emergency assistance to individuals and families in the Heber-Overgaard area facing unexpected hardships. Throughout the evening, attendees purchased raffle tickets, bid on donated auction items, and contributed to an organization dedicated to ensuring that help is available when local families experience crises.

HOSS, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 2024 by Heber-Overgaard residents Wyatt Adams, Jason Pedigo, and Mike Kenney. Inspired by the impact they could make in their mountain community, the founders created HOSS to provide a local, personal way for residents to support one another. Their vision was to keep charitable giving within the community, directing every donated dollar into the hands of local people who need it most.
Since its founding, HOSS has provided assistance to residents facing medical emergencies, house fires, accidents, sudden financial hardship, and other unforeseen circumstances. The annual banquet has quickly become one of the community’s signature events, bringing together generous businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and residents who share a commitment to helping their neighbors.
Jason Pedigo said the organization’s mission goes beyond raising money—it is about serving the people of Heber-Overgaard.
“We’re here to give a helping hand to the people in Heber-Overgaard if they need it,” Pedigo said. “It gives me great joy to be part of something that can make a difference in someone’s life.”
Mountain Daily Star was on hand throughout the evening to cover the event and witness firsthand the generosity of the White Mountains community. A full house of supporters reflected the community’s willingness to stand beside neighbors during difficult times, reinforcing the spirit of giving that has become the hallmark of HOSS.
Planning is already underway for next year’s HOSS Annual Banquet. Organizers said details, including the date, time, and location, will be announced as they become available. Mountain Daily Star will continue to keep the community updated as more information is released.
