SHOW LOW — A firefighter with Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District was killed early Friday morning in a head-on crash on Lone Pine Dam Road, according to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office and Timber Mesa.

Deputies said the collision happened around 6:44 a.m. on Lone Pine Dam Road near milepost 7.5. The crash involved a motorcycle and a truck. The motorcyclist, a 46-year-old man from Show Low, died from his injuries at the scene. The other driver, a 21-year-old woman from Show Low, was not identified in the release. According to sources, the woman was transported to a hospital and released.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety assisted sheriff’s deputies with the investigation, which remains ongoing.

Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District confirmed the victim was one of their firefighters who was on his way to work when the crash occurred. In a statement, the department expressed grief over the loss.

“It is with profound sadness that Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District announces the passing of one of our firefighters who was tragically killed in a vehicle accident while riding his motorcycle on his way to work,” said Trinity Savage, public information officer.

The agency said the firefighter’s name will be released once family notifications are complete and asked the public and media to respect the family’s privacy.

“Our entire organization is grieving the loss of another one of our own,” the statement said. “We ask for privacy as we support family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this very difficult time.”
