Sheriff Clouse was sworn in on December 14th and will serve a one-year term in this pivotal role. AACo stands as the sole statewide organization representing all county officials and their respective offices within the State of Arizona, boasting a membership that includes nearly 300 elected county officials.
Established in 1968, the AACo serves as a crucial entity offering essential services to Arizona’s counties. It actively engages with state and federal governments to address pertinent issues, enhances public awareness of county governance, facilitates the exchange of innovative solutions among counties through education and research, and delivers value-added services to promote fiscal responsibility.
A primary responsibility of the AACo is to act as a representative for county government interests at both the state and federal levels, advocating for legislation that benefits counties and their constituents.
“It is a tremendous honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of representing fellow county elected officials and advocating for the indispensable role county governments play in the lives of Arizonans,” remarked Sheriff Clouse.
In his capacity as President, Sheriff Clouse will not only champion criminal justice matters within the state, but will also collaborate with board members to address a myriad of issues faced by county government through roles such as assessor, recorder, treasurer, education, and criminal justice.
Having served as Sheriff for five years and accumulating over 15 years of experience within the county, Sheriff Clouse expresses confidence in the AACo’s ongoing commitment to assertive engagement at the Arizona legislature and federal levels.
“AACo will persist in playing a significant role in advocating for the best interests of our counties within Arizona,” said Sheriff Clouse.
