Victim shoots at suspect during incident in Show Low

SHOWLOW- During an incident in the Fawnbrook neighborhood, the victim shot at the intruder as the suspect broke into the home and began causing damage.

On August 6, 2024, at approximately 2:13 a.m., the Show Low Police Department received a call from a homeowner in the Fawnbrook neighborhood in Show Low, Arizona.

The homeowner reported a male subject broke into his home, caused significant damage, attempted to start a fire inside and outside the home, and the victim fired two shots at the suspect with a handgun upon discovering him.

Upon arrival, officers were able to identify the suspect and several hours later, were able to locate and arrest the suspect who had been hiding in the neighborhood.

The suspect has been identified as Vaughn Yazzie Jr, 25 years old from Ganado, AZ.

Yazzie has several charges that relate to arson of an occupied structure and burglary. The charges are from May 2024 in Apache County.

Yazzie has been booked into Navajo County Jail for the present related incidents.

This case remains under investigation.
