PIMA COUNTY-A Pima County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested in connection with a kidnapping investigation stemming from an incident at the Pima County Jail earlier this month.
According to a probable cause statement, 22-year-old Pima County Deputy Travis Reynolds is accused of detaining a woman for an extended period on March 19, 2026, while making sexually explicit comments and propositions during the encounter.
In a statement, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Reynolds is no longer employed with the agency following his arrest. The department also said he was taken into custody by the Tucson Police Department on a kidnapping charge.
Investigators allege Reynolds transported the woman to the Pima County Jail but did not immediately take her inside. Instead, he reportedly parked near the facility, removed her from the vehicle, and changed her handcuffs from behind her back to the front. The report states he then returned her to the vehicle while she remained restrained.
During that time, Reynolds allegedly engaged the woman in conversation, smoked a vape pen with her, and suggested he could help her legal situation in exchange for sexual favors. According to the report, those alleged requests included sex, oral sex, or providing explicit photos not already on her phone.
The woman told investigators she felt scared, uncertain, and unable to leave. She also reported that Reynolds showed her explicit videos, including one he implied involved himself.
According to the investigation, the woman repeatedly asked to be taken inside the jail, but Reynolds delayed booking her.
Surveillance footage from the jail reportedly shows the patrol vehicle arriving at approximately 9:46 p.m. Video then captures Reynolds removing the woman from the vehicle, adjusting her restraints, and later sitting in the driver’s seat while holding an object toward the back seat area. Authorities say the woman was not brought into the jail until about 11:26 p.m., nearly two hours after arrival.
Detectives later reviewed Reynolds’ phone and reported finding evidence that corroborated the woman’s account.
When questioned, Reynolds reportedly denied knowing the woman prior to the incident. He acknowledged he may have shown her videos, but told investigators he could not clearly remember the details.
Reynolds has since made an initial court appearance, where a judge set his bond at $200,000.
The bond recommendation notes that Reynolds has no prior criminal history.
The case remains under investigation, and formal charges are pending review.
A reporter asked if Reynolds was involved with the Nancy Gutherie case-they’re waiting for a reply.
